Our facility

Our facility is divided into three sections.

Section 1 (Headquarters):

where scientific data will be organized and analyzed. Captive breeding programs will be established.

Section 2 (Tortoise Breeding Colony A):

Tortoise breeding colony A will breed tortoises maintained under natural Mediterranean climate,i.e. hot and mildly-dry conditions in the summer season and cold, rainy conditions in the winter season. Species, such as the spur-thighed tortoise (Testudo graeca) are allowed to hibernate in shelters provided within their arenas.

Section 3 (Tortoise Breeding Colony B):

Breeding Colony B would include tortoises such as the Star Tortoise (Geochelonae elegans), which cannot tolerate cold and wet climate. These animals are provided with both open arenas and access to sunlight in the spring and summer seasons. They are kept partially indoors during the cold season of the year.
